Elysian Fields
In The Girl in the Glass, the Elysian Fields are the location of the Clypeate’s top-secret project. In keeping with their Western Headquarters’ theme, the Elysian Fields, or Elysium, is part of Greek mythology, and is the paradise reserved for heroes and virtuous souls after death.
Descriptions from ancient poets like Homer portray it as a blissful, peaceful meadow at the edge of the world, filled with golden flowers and music. It's a land of perfect happiness and eternal spring, bathed in pleasant weather without snow, rain, or storms. Inhabitants enjoy their favorite pastimes, such as sports and feasting, free from toil and sorrow.
Later conceptions, such as Virgil's in the Aeneid, placed Elysium as a special, brighter part of the Underworld for the deserving dead, separate from the gloomy abode of most other souls.
