Declan’s Escape from Japanese-Occupied China

In Girl in the Glass, after Declan is captured at the Longmen Grottoes and his life is spared by a last minute request, he must be transported back to the United States. The China Marines are tasked with getting him out safely, which means bypassing Japanese-occupied Eastern China.
