Washington D.C., Kansas City, Denver

Washington–Hoover Airport, Arlington, Virginia

The airport served Washington, D.C. from 1933 to 1941. It was located in Arlington, Virginia, on the land now occupied by the Pentagon and its surrounding parking lots. Due to the short runways and lack of room for expansion, the airport was closed in 1941 and replaced by Washington National Airport, now known as Reagan National Airport.

Kansas City Municipal Airport, Kansas City, Missouri

Kansas City Municipal Airport was initially dedicated by Charles Lindbergh in 1927, and served as the city's main commercial airport until the opening of Kansas City International Airport in 1972. KC Municipal Airport is still a working airport, and is now known as the Kansas City Downtown Airport - Wheeler Field.

Denver Municipal Airport, Stapleton, Colorado

Denver Municipal Airport, later known as Stapleton International Airport, was Denver's primary airport from 1929 to 1995. Due to increasing capacity demands, it was replaced by Denver International Airport. Denver Municipal Airport’s land is now a residential neighborhood called Central Park, but many locals refer to the area as Stapleton.
